Are your bugle ends pointing torwards the ground = or torwards the radiator/engine? Also, do you know which side is the low and = which is the high? One more question, do your horns bugles spin clockwise = or counterclockwise? Your help is greatly appreciated so I can get this darn thing right! Keith 68 H.O. Subject: Re: Horn Help From: <Jimc2002@aol.com> Date: Tue, 13 Mar 2001 11:57:38 EST Keith, After reading you question and replys, I realized that I don't remember = how the horns are mtd on my '68. I checked and found the same mounting as "Rowans" car in the picture. I wonder if being mounted 90 degrees shifted from one another is on purpose and does anything to the sound (wave cancellations/blending, etc.)??? Yes, = my low does also have a L stamped on it. Any other opinions on the = mounting or any other pics of how horns are mounted? Also, anyone have a "high note" horn for sale? After repeatedly trying, cant get the high to work. Thanks! Keith 68 H.O. Subject: more horn questions From: "Chris Porter" <fxstsb@pop.sttl.uswest.net> Date: Tue, 13 Mar 2001 08:51:47 -0800 My bracket look's the same Kieth. The one horn I have has an "L" near the end. Is that how you tell low from high ? If thats correct, then my low was on the hood latch brace. Is that where it's supposed to be ? Can anybody verify this ? Chris `68 350 H.O. (back) Subject: RE: Burled Walnut Console Applique From: "Curt Doggett" <ccdogget@ida.net> Date: Wed, 14 Mar 2001 09:26:01 -0700 When I was still in High School and had my first bird back in '77, I made the stupendous mistake of cutting a big hole in the center of the dash to install a stereo. I looked for a material that would match the burl-wood applique and found a shelf paper that matched perfectly. It has been almost 25 years since I did this but I recall not being able to tell the difference between what I had repaired and what was original. It was a self sticking paper and all I had to do was cut it out and stick it on. I have no idea if something like this is still available, but it wouldn't hurt to check. I hope that this helps someone. Curt 68 350 coupe (P.S. I still cringe thinking about the big hole I cut in the dash of that poor bird)

I have painted my block with = Martin-Senior/NAPA Pontiac blue from the spray cans. I love the color, but it doesn't last. Anyone tried the POR paint? Does it stay on, especially on the heads? Other suggestions welcome. Also, from the PHS documentation, how can you tell if what rims your car came with? Here is my info: http://users.supernet.com/jprogers/67phs.htm Thanks, Jason

Does it stay on, especially on the heads? >Other suggestions welcome. I've used the POR engine paint, followed the instructions, and still have the stuff burn off the exhaust ports, the center ports primarily. This was with carefully cleaning the bare metal, and using the POR 15 black as an undercoat as specified. The paint goes on very thick, and leaves some brush strokes. Not really noticable on the rough casting of the block. But very noticable on the smoother metals like the valley pan and the oilpan. In the recently published special edition "Pontiac Engine Guide" from the editors of "High Performance Pontiac", Jim Taylor talks about the problem of keeping the paint on the exhaust ports. He suggests two light coats of Krylon's Rust Tough Enamel primer, then a thin coat of Plastikote's #227 Pontiac Blue Metallic. A dusting of color really, on the port area. He feels that a thick layer of paint is more likely to retain heat and burn off than a thin layer which will allow the heat to pass through and not burn. >Also, from the PHS documentation, how can you tell if what rims your car >came with? Here is my info: http://users.supernet.com/jprogers/67phs.htm The 3 in box 45 (code 453) tells me that your car came with Rally II wheels. A 2 would indicate wire wheel covers, and an 8 would be custom wheel covers. Both are metal hubcaps. (back) Subject: Rear control arms. From: "Bad Acid" <bad-acid@pacbell.net> Date: Wed, 14 Mar 2001 21:50:12 -0800 I have a 67 400 coupe which has rear control arms on it. It has a multi leaf springs, so I'm not sure if this is the original setup. The left control arm has broken through the floor pan, also the frame rail appears = to have been broken/damaged and welded up. They are attached to the floor = pan, but not attached to the frame rails, although there apears to be bolt = holes there. Are these stock? What is the concept behind how they are supposed = to function? Are they worth keeping? If I keep them, I plan to weld a cross member into the frame to create a stronger mounting point for them. In the long run, I may add on the rear subframe rails by Performance Suspension, But this is more than I want to do right now. I just finished putting in a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch, and I want to enjoy that for a while before I do anything major. Any information anyone has on rear control arms would be appreciated.
