From: "x1r1 x" <x1r1@hotmail.com> Date: Fri, 26 Jan 2001 01:09:13 -0500   Just occured to me that you might be able to pinpoint your leak by pressurizing or vacuuming the tank, then seeking a point source of noise. Maybe with the blow gun from the compressor sealed omtp the foller neck witha rag wrapped in plastic bag. Use a length of rubber hose held by your ear to improve the directional discrimination of your hearing. I have never attempted this before, but it might be easier than dropping the tank. Is the "Chevron" Ames Part Number FB600 on page 30 of the firebird catalog? The back edge of this piece is in the same body line as the back edge of the outer headlight bezels. But between this and the fenders/hood is a rubber cusion in 3 pieces. One goes behind each outer headlight bezel, and the third beind the "Chevron" or as I like to call it, the "batwing". Together they form the 1/2 or so black standoff between the "nose" of the car and the rest of the front clip.   If you count the piece at the very nose of the car starting at the front and working backward, you would see the chrome bumper, "Chevron" (or "batwing"), rubber cushion, then hood.   It's this black rubber cushion center piece that I'm trying to find..........   Steve Lothridge     --------------------------------------------------------- -------------   Steve, It sounds like you're talking about the "Chevron" that goes in between the two headlight bezels. When I worked for Bills Birds he was buying repro pieces. That was seven years ago so I'm not sure if they are still available but give him a call. (631) 667-3853. I know they are hard to come by used. They were very brittle and would crack whenever the front bumper took a little hit. Good luck.
