Could it have been a "Chevy" director thinking that was part of our "Ram Air" package? I enjoyed the show although I still believe the best chase was in the movie "Bullet" Brian 69 conv. --- Chris Porter <fxstsb@pop.sttl.uswest.net> wrote: > First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List > .......................................................................... > Just watched Gone in 60 Second's. I pulled and printed the wiring diagrams for my car, but = have a few questions maybe someone might be able to help with... As I mentioned before I got my new wire harnesses. I looked up the engine compartment wiring diagrams and the A/C diagrams = that are posted but, still a few small problems. At the end of my engine harness There is a blue wire, a black wire and a black with orange stripe wire. 1. Blue -- Oil Pressure switch - ok 2. Black with orange -- Heater motor. Where is it? Do I need to plug it = in because, on my old engine compartment wire harness this wire was cut. I didnt cut it. Is this ok? Where o where does this wire go? Why does = it leave me here all alone... 3. Black -- Down shift solenoid -- Goes on the trans?? I converted from = the TH 400 to the TH350. I cant find where to plug it in? Is there = somewhere?? Also on my Air Conditioning harness -- there are two wires that are = really long, one GREEN and one black with a double orange Stripe 1.Black with Double Orange Stripe.--(it has a fuse on it) Generator? do I plug this onto the alternator because I have a newer alternator made in 1976. 2. I also have a Green wire about the same length & comming from the same place this wire is not shown on the diagrams. I have no idea where to = stick this. Thanks all If you cant understand this let me know. Thanks again, John. >> Your long lost black/orange heater wire probably goes on the blower motor under the right fender. Look on the blower/heatercore cover near the right = hood hinge. I know this was a pain trying to install this on my non-AC = car. Find a small handed friend.
(back) Subject: Coolant recovery tank From: "Mark Wurtzel" <mwurtzel@flash.net> Date: Sun, 21 Jan 2001 20:59:23 -0800 Hello all: I've looked through my manual but cannot seem to find any reference to a coolant recovery tank being used on a '68 Firebird. Did they come with = one, or were offered as an option? I've just finished installing a new radiator in my '68 and want to use one with it. I figured if there was a stock or optional item that would be = the easiest, and nicest looking, way to go. If not, has anyone on the list added one and can you provide me with any details of the project? I'd prefer to use something a bit nicer than the typical generic discount auto store ones I've seen offered. Thanks in advance, Mark 1968 convertible

(back) Subject: Re: Coolant recovery tank From: "Glenn Uettwiller" <birdman@gdi.net> Date: Mon, 22 Jan 2001 03:34:24 -0500 Mark, coolant tanks weren't used until 1971 on GM cars. Anything you see before then IS a generic cheap-looking barfcan. It is a good idea, but if you cannot adapt a more factory looking part from another GM car of early 70's vintage, then maybe you can hide it somewhere.
