As for the second question, the 350 HO has, among other things, a different grind cam, higher compression, and different cylinder heads. These heads account for the increase in compression since they have smaller chambers, and should also have larger valves and screw in rocker arm studs.   Given that the 2 bbl. 350 has a compression ratio in the low 9s, it may not pay to upgrade to a smaller chamber HO head and then find that you've got detonation issues.   -Bob Cisneros San Jose, CA 1968 Convertible bob.cisneros@Ebay.Sun.COM

The radiator = bushings to 30-40ft lbs.   Sorry for my response with the lower numbers earlier.   Doug   Niklas Ridell wrote:   > First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List > = ......................................................................... > Back to an old thread: > > Some time ago Doug gave me the torque spec for the body bushings. = (thanks Doug) > Does this also apply for the radiator support bushings with smaller bolt = diameter? > > /Niklas > > --------------------------------- > dcharnley@mediaone.net wrote: > > > > > According to the specs I have when I installed mine, the bolts should = be torqued > > to 40ft. lbs. > > > > Doug > > >

(back) Subject: Trans shifter suggestions needed forTHM400 From: "Chuck Sellers" <chuck_sellers@hotmail.com> Date: Tue, 2 Jan 2001 21:26:28 -0800   Happy New Year all,   I picked up a rebuilt BOP THM400 trans while I was visiting the in-laws = for Christmas. Found a 400 crossmember on eBay a couple of days ago. Picked up an automatic center console on eBay a few weeks back. Ordered a B&M tranny pan and dipstick tube/stick from Summit. I am getting CLOSE to putting the tranny in.   I would like some suggestions on a shifter that will fit without carving = up the center console. Does B&M make a ratchet type shifter that fits without cutting on the console? What about a kickdown cable? Lokar?   Chuck Sellers '68 350 convertible

Stock '69 shifter ratchets in forward direction.Fits with minor adjustment(using '69 console too). Kickdown is electric - no cable. Need = to run 12v to switch on carb that closes at W.O.T.,then to top terminal on electrical connection on rt. side of trans.
